I’ve started the year off by changing things up. I keep saying on video how I’m trying to make it more of a variety channel and not just focus on Hi Capa’s but this has put an end to 2 ongoing project AR’s and concentrated my efforts down into 1.

I absolutely loved my Kythera DMR however rarely used it as a DMR, it was more often turned down on the pressure guage and used as an AR, effectively disadvantaging me against full auto players although retaining some closed bolt consistency and Kythera efficiency. Saying that I also adored my Jack build, never let me down, electric trigger and very fast ROF, sadly open bolt and it could really gulp air when letting loose on full auto.

Add in to that I’m now lugging 2 rifles around before I even look at the SRS sniper, it meant for a fair few trips to the car and back when loading and unloading.

So I did this….

Wolverine Airsoft MTW Billet 10″ SBR Tactical

I sold both of my beloved G&G’s and put the money towards the above pictured rifle. The Wolverine MTW. This is the 10″ Billet Tactical version and the above picture is how it comes stock. I have since added a Silverback .308 suppressor and generic red dot from my DMR build as well and it looks quite the part.

It just feels great as well, I’ve not had a rifle with full metal receiver before and as this is an MTW, it’s light, even compared to my plastic receivers, it’s light so the confidence you get holding it, that and in my head I know this was built for HPA, no alignment to fiddle with, just – made for the job.

This is striking the balance for me both setups and size wise between my 2 previous rifles. The DMR soming in at 12″ was a touch long for my liking and the Jack was 7″ so a touch short for what I felt an outdoor rifle should be. This MTW uses the Inferno Gen 2 engine so it is a hybrid open bolt (note fires as closed), very air efficient and electro trigger meaning I get the best of all of the worlds.

I’m also now post-game with it, the first outing for a new rifle is always a weird one, will it work, will it work properly, will I even shoot anyone? Yes is the answer to all of those. After the warm up game we’d gotten a few kills together and after 2 mags (note 6 in total) the hop rubber decided to bed in and “grip up” meaning I was winding off mid game and watching my BB’s glide into the target.

I don’t plan on many upgrades either, I want something that “just works” so I do have a PDI barrel on order thanks to Hi Capa Hub and I’m reading up on which buckings work best with what nubs although most people tend to say “stick with the G&G green” so I’m of a mind to go with that until something goes wrong.

My intention is to completely bin off this “DMR” style of play, I’m either running the sniper for long range or th MTW for anything less (obvioulsy indoors is all about the pistols). The MTW has really good range with a heavier ammo so it begins to bridge that gap between the AR and DMR role in the UK and with some sites only offering a barely noticable advantage anyway, it makes sense to not have a MED and to keep that burst fire in case I need it.
