Wolfgang Airsoft is a small9ish) site that has a focus on keeping you in game. Using every corner, of the vastly changing site I had a great day here and had some good time to explore without getting too far off target.

Arrival & Safe Zone

You can easily miss the entrance, it’s small and not massively weel sign posted but as you turn in, you’re in the main car park straight away, if you drive too far, you’re actually driving into the sign in cabin. The car park isn’t huge but given the size of the site and player turnout, this isn’t too much of a problem.

Safe zone the front of the site, netted off with an easy access into the game zone. All prep is done from your vehicle with no seating or tables provided. This usually puts me off a bit but I didn’t mind as the site felt quite close so it was nice having “my” own space to get ready in.

My only “Eek” point here is that even though in the safe zone, you are still able to shoot and test fire (mags in) around your vehicle. I don’t drive a decent car but I’d still be annoyed if someone shot it and secondly, there are people walking around without eyepro but this seemed common practise from the regs. Not crazy about this.

Sign in was the normal job, say hello, gt your name ticked off and pay the remaining balance. There s a discount for members and I picked up a patch to remember I have actually been here. It’s a no frills affair with not a huge amount on sale but that’s OK, it’s not one of the big “corporate” style sites, this is a couple of rungs above you and a few mates in a private woods.

Safety Brief & Chrono

Safety brief was very quick, something I liked. From memory, there were no first timers in the group on this day so we rattled through the brief at decent pace.

Chrono was open to use when getting ready, the guys here are quite cool, sometimes even though my rifles are under, I get a real anxiety with it being a new site and new chrono but they were really chill.
Site limits are 350/450/520 here which felt so strange, I put my SRS through at an equivalent of 495 and didn’t bother trying and last minute power ups. Chrono was done on shooting weight which was a nice relief as well.

Site & Playing Areas

The game area is a 10 acre site, it’s woodland but there is an open section towards the front with some mounds and a far corner with some mounds which allows for some differing play styles, I had set out to play sniper so initially got stuck into the woods which was your typical english woods but then through the day utilised more of the open areas as sitting at the back gave a good view over the entire open stretch and ability to engage given my additional range.

Games

Morning games were a warm up (flags) which took a surprising amount of time as you kind of insta-spawned where you were shot so this made some really dyamic play, then there was. conquest game which really is one of my favourites, not because I pound the flags, it gives the ability to explore the site and just kill stuff that moves. This meant I was able to explore the APC, the mounded area and the woods with some success, including a small stream that runs through and the corner which is almost like a BMX jump track.

Lunch

I didn’t engage in lunch opting for a healthy self brought salad. I don’t remember there being food but they have food hygiene certs so likely do serve food. Again, I’m trying to get out of the habit of burgers and chips as I get older as it takes the entire day to shift them.

Games contd…

Afternoon was a variation of the conquest and finishing the day with a pick up a bomb and carry it into the far corner of the map, I plaued a blinder here allowing my team to grab the bomb and go, the enenmy team came past me so I popped up (this time with DMR in hand) and took each of them out, this gave my team a clear run to the objective which was guarded by marshalls with guns. I managed to dispatch these from a distance as well and our team succeeded so a good feeling all around. Final game was an all against all to finish, ending at the APC. I lasted a surprising amount of time getting down to final couple here. Sadly outgunned as I had a pistol and BASR compared to a full auto AEG.

Marshalling & General Attitude of Players

Head marshall was great, an emphasis on keeping things chill but within the lines. Some of the regulars could probably do with piping down the banter as sometimes it made briefs go off track but overall not a bad experience.
Hit taking throughout the day was fine, no complaints at all and in general the players had good vibes although our group alone made up half of the players, this gave a lot of fun mid morning when we switched teams around to balance.

Overall

I had a good day at Wolfgang. It’s probably not on my “OMG I can’t wait to go back” list due to the lesser facilities, size and games played but I certainly wouldn’t stay away from it. I’d definitely reccommend a trip back and when I’m short of a day and they’re running I would happily bok back on.
